There are a number of organizations that work to promote and support urban agriculture in the region in different ways. One of the most comprehensive in its programming is LifeCycles with its Urban Agriculture Hub. The Victoria Compost Education Centre also has programs and a demonstration site. The Gorge Tillicum Farmers are a very active group of neighbourhood-based gardeners who have taken on larger projects like the creation of the Gorge Tillicum Community Garden. Other neighborhoods have also been inspired by their model and have organized. The Urban Farmers Alliance is a group of urban farmers collaborating with one another in the growing and marketing of food in the CRD. They grow in urban spaces and sell directly to the public at the Downtown Public Market, James Bay Market, and to small, locally-focused retail stores around Victoria.
