Jill Adams
Board Member
Growing up on a farm in rural Manitoba, Jill started learning about farming, local food production, fruit tree management, harvesting irrigation/water saving, and livestock around age 5. This early exposure cultivated a passion for healthy food, traditional ecological knowledge (TEK), and building sustainable, resilient communities. Jill’s combined disciplines of Sociology and Environmental Studies naturally led her to embody an intersectional approach into early work on environment, social justice, and traditional plant medicines.
She is now frequently consulted on edible landscape design, urban gardens or food forests, and provides tours of her city permaculture sites to help young or aspiring farmers maximize yields and test out methods.
From her 25-year career in the BC Public Service, she also brings program planning and execution, organizing large teams around innovative solutions, digital transformation and human resources. She has presented and published her academic work internationally, received numerous awards for her public service work, and is currently employed as Chief Human Resources Officer in the BC Government.
